Perceive Differently

Gloria to God:

Dear God, well, I am amazed at how a little thing can throw me for a loop. How I can be on top of the world one minute, and then someone's saying they don't connect with HEAVEN lays me low the next? I KNOW better. Where is my neutrality, non-attachment, and remembrance of you?

God:

They are there, covered by twinges of ego. You still think that somewhere, somehow, sometime, My words put you on the line, and you find yourself, more or less, dependent on how someone receives them.

My words are a part of you the same way that they are a part of everyone who reads them. Not more than that. My words don't really have to do with you. You are a Heavenreader, and you happen to be the Heavenwriter/typist as well. But that is no different from the printer who will one day set My words in type.

He merely does his job. His concern is not with what someone thinks of the words he puts down. They are words he puts down, but they do not belong to him. His job is to set the type and print the words.

You are a layer of tile. You set the tile. How feet that will later walk on it value it is the tiler's last thought. Will they like the color? Will they appreciate the quality? He is thinking of other things.

You are a baker of cakes. You follow the recipe. You put your heart and soul into the cake and put frosting on it. There will be mouths that love that cake, mouths that don't eat sugar, and others who will take a taste and spit it out. You baked the cake, and cannot go beyond that.

You are a manufacturer of shoes. Everyone in the world will not wear your shoes. Your concern is with those who do. You make the shoes as best you can, and then you leave it to the buyers themselves.

What I am saying to you is: Be not attached to results. Your skin is not at stake. Mine certainly is not! And I do not need a protector.

You are a street-corner seller of newspapers. You don't cry when someone passes you by and doesn't choose a newspaper.

When will you learn not to care one red cent what someone else thinks?

Care what I think. Care what you think. And let the rest go their way.

Gloria:

Thank You. Dear God, I am not always so affected when someone doesn't want HEAVEN. Why this time?

God:

This person was in tears when you offered to send it to her. That's when you became personally involved. You were going to do wonderful things — save her, restore her to happiness, and you were going to be proud of yourself — and then you were disappointed.

The small ego of a person cannot withstand much. Keep your ego out in the first place, and you will feel smoother. Look not for the high's nor the low's.

Let me remind you also that when someone is in tears, pain, distress, that is not your responsibility. Your responsibility is to be the same to all. Don't be such a softy.

Bless tears, bless the weeper of them, and bless yourself by not joining in.

I, God, will save all. You will save no one.

Consider others' crying as a trap for you.

Consider joy the net I throw out.

Do not be detoured with sympathy. You don't see Me caught in a web of tears, do you? I am compassionate. I am Compassion Incarnate, but I am not whelmed by tears. I do not sit down and cry with each weeper. If I did, who would take care of the world?

And if you get out of joint with every rejection, who will get My words out?

Stick with Me. I will never let you down. I am always the same. Rain or shine. Think of how I react. Think of My love. My love is too big to be affected by critics. Avail yourself of My love. You, of yourself, cannot give much. Keep yourself intact so that you can give My love to the cryers and the non-cryers.

Be not affected by tears. Just do what you have been given to do.

Do you feel better now?

Gloria:

Yes, much. Stronger.

God:

Good. Stay with strength. It is Mine.

Gloria:

The other day Karla wanted to know why some people have such hard lives. Now I ask You: why does life seem so hard? I am grateful for life, dear Father, but it seems like we get hit over the head a lot.

God:

Dear Gloria, life is easy. It goes of itself. My children make it hard because they push and pull so much.

Who said that you can't have off-days? Why do you consider an event as a hit on the head? What says that life ought to be other than what it is? What does an occurence have to do with you except as you perceive it? So perceive differently.

I could just as well ask, Why do My children hit themselves over the head so much? Life is not the perpetrator. You are! Wounds are self-inflicted.

Do not take credit for what you see as good. Do not take blame for what you see as not so good.

Because the road has pot holes, you don't have to stop and bemoan them. Nor do you have to speed up when the road is smooth. Be not dejected. Be not exhilarated. Enjoy life.

Your Being is the same regardless of the road.
