liivng in the past
Free Will
What shall I say but that all is well? That is a new thought. When was the last time you thought all was well with the world? And your place in it?
History is of the past. And the past is repeated. If the past is repeated, what has been learned? The past cannot be changed, but the present can. On what do your thoughts dwell?
A new era in the world can only take place within you. Your thoughts seed the earth.
Someone must think wars are still good, or there would be none.
Someone must think there is an advantage to war or there would be none.
Christopher Columbus and Christ
Your imagination is like filaments from the sun. You have seen photographs that show the sun's rays between trees in the forest. Your imagination is like that. Your imagination is not something to be discouraged but encouraged. Who is there qualified to say that the trees are more solid than the rays of the sun that blast through between and above them?
The Past Is Not Future
When you hold on to the past, even objects of the past, you are holding on to a part of yourself that used to be there. You used to adore and use that object, for instance, and now you no longer do. You cannot let go of it because you feel you would be letting go of yourself. And, yes, that is precisely what is happening — you are letting go of a past part of yourself. You are letting go of a memory that is no longer true.
The Past, Part II
Not only do you remember and relive the past, you regret it. You rue the past. You rue decisions you made, and you rue, or at least wonder about, decisions you did not make. You think, I should have taken that job and not the one I did. Or, at least you think, I wonder what would have happened had I chosen that other job. What if you had married that man instead of this man? What if you had had more children or none?
The Past, Part I
You, who feel so connected to the past, who are indeed a wave of the past, find yourself in the position of having to let go of the past, the dear and the not so dear.
Consider yourself created today, full-grown. Consider yourself without memory. Consider yourself new. What delights would you see before you? You would ooh and ah, and you would know the gifts that you have been given.
The past proves nothing. It was only a blip.
It just isn't important. It never was. Let it go.
Is God Always Supposed to Agree with You?
Beloveds, do you think I am supposed to agree with you on everything? Where is it written that I, God, am supposed to agree with you at all? I do not ask that you always concur with Me, or that you concur at all! I am not affronted when you do not. Why would you rally in defense of yourself when you do not find My answer pleasing? Do you try to convince me that you are right and I am not?
