A Good Thing to Remember
Once every once in a while, you overindulge and rediscover the folly of overindulgence. Why did you do it, you ask yourself, and vow to never again. And yet you have lived through this more than once, and then again, as if vow you once made, you are to break. Then do not make the vows, beloved.
You are a vulnerable corporeal Being. You need not fall in the same pit again. But if you do, simply pick yourself up and surpass yourself. First of all, it is permissible to slip. Do not hold it against yourself. Hold nothing against yourself. Be for yourself. Champion yourself. Where is it said that it is worthy to judge yourself as if you were not your own friend? Pick yourself up and keep walking.
Life includes what you call error. It is folly to be an umpire of your life. Be a player instead. Be glad that you hit the ball. Whether it is a home run or not, be glad you hit the ball. Be glad that you are alive to. Be glad that you can throw or catch or bat a ball. Be glad even that you are one who can make a mistake. No need to call yourself out. No need to accuse yourself. I do not accuse you.
When you do not accuse yourself, you also do not excuse yourself. It is one thing to say, Excuse me, and another to make excuses for yourself. When you bump into a wall, you bump into it and then go another way. Do not be the wall yourself that you bump into. You are not meant to dodge life nor excuse it away. Pardon yourself beforehand. Be generous with yourself, and be generous with another.
Mistakes are made. Great or little, an error is an error. Whether it is a small blot of ink or the whole bottle, tip the bottle upright, clean up the ink, and be done with it. It is spilled milk. Even if you did it on purpose, you didn’t know what you were doing, beloved. Had you known, would you have done it? If you had known to the extent you know now, would you have done it? If you had known, would you have had anger against another or yourself to the extent you have?
Is it not a good thing to learn in life? If you knew everything, how could you learn? If you were lesser yesterday, today you are more. Congratulations. If you have seen mistakes you have made, tip your hat to yourself in pardon, and keep on going without self-recrimination. Do not sentence yourself to life without parole.
Whatever it is, you have not gotten away with it. You noted it. Once noted, pass beyond. Acknowledge the misstep and go another away. Do not keep yourself there with regret. You must free yourself from the past. Whatever the world may say or do about it, you are to surpass the past. You must see the past as past and not stay bound to it. The past is not tar that you have to be stuck in. To free yourself from the past, let go of guilt. You are guilty of having learned something, and now you release yourself and go forward. Whatever your past was, do not stay there. Bless yourself instead. Forgive yourself instead. Welcome yourself to new ground. Step higher now. With every passing moment, you are coming closer to Me, beloveds. And is that not a good thing to remember?
