A Friendly Walk with God

Gloria to God:

Dear God, You said recently to "practice being pleased". At first that made me think of a sneering "superior-type" person I know where nothing seems to be good enough for them, but now I think of it in a different way. Like when I was going through my attachment pain, I could have been glad for it — thought of it like passing a kidney stone or something. As it was, I suffered it and I suffered about it. I mean, I had the actual experience and also the experience of how I looked at it.

Now that my attachment issues have more or less settled down, my non-attachedness doesn't altogether please me either! I sort of feel like a nut in space without its bolt! I know You are my bolt, dear God, and yet…

God:

Being displeased is the curse of judgment.

Practice being pleased is to practice starting off from an angle of joy. Let joy be your orientation.

Displeasure waits to be proven.

Instead, prove pleasant reception.

Practice acceptance. No, that sounds long-suffering.

Practice joy.

In this very moment, you have a choice of joy or dissatisfaction. You need no practice in disgruntlement. You have been taught that all your life and had much practice.

When the eyes look up, it is hard to sneer. Only when the eyes look down can you sneer.

So, look up towards Heaven and await its descent.

To await its descent means to become aware of its arrival, for Heaven descended with My love at the moment of Creation.

Approve of your life. Approve of your day. Approve of yourself. Okay whatever shipment arrives. Within the straw and packing may be a diamond fair or an exquisite non-pareil.

Don't let this moment of joy slip through your fingers.

Everything is in a context. Questions to me need to be in a context. Insert your life into a context of being pleased with it. That intention alone will lift your life to new heights.

Make your life a toast to Me, and lift it high.

Gloria:

God, I love it when we have a talk like this. I feel like we are taking a walk by the water, and we're talking casually, not chit-chat but just comfortable back and forth.

God:

That is when you feel more than My presence. That is when you feel My friendship.

Gloria:

Yes.

God:

How we walk around the pond is how you want your mind to walk. Not wander.

Strolling is not wandering.

You do not need to hustle in Our walk. It is not urgent to complete Our tour in record time.

But We don't keep going off the path either to see what this attraction or that attraction is. After a while, all attractions are the same. They can give you only so much.

So, pick the flowers on Our walk, but do not go too far afield.

Our walk is not aimless.

Gloria:

It seems to me that there is a fine line between being pleased and going off the path.

God:

But I am telling you that the path We walk is joy. Could a walk with Me be otherwise?

Know that I am beside you. What a joy for you! What a treat! What a celebration!

And that is the truth of life. I am ever by your side, walking with you.

Gloria:

And that is Heaven, dear God.

God:

That is Heaven. Wherever I am is Heaven. I am everywhere, and what does that tell you?

Gloria:

Heaven is everywhere.

God:

Look with My eyes as We walk. I will point out different sights to you. I will help you notice. When you know I am by your side, you breathe joy. You breathe. Your feet hardly touch the ground. You are weightless. We wade through the air. We waft through it. The walk is joy.

Your earthly father took and made joy in daily acts, like making his grand salad.

How much more can your Heavenly Father do? You are just beginning to know.

Come dance with Me across the universe.
