Generosity and Gratitude

Gloria to God:

Dear God, I wonder about appearance and spirituality. What goes on in the inside does not necessarily appear on the outside, and vice versa. I know a young man who has great clairvoyance and yet, in terms of everyday life, seems to be far away from managing even the basics. Karen has said that many healers and highly spiritual people are selfish. But selfishness is the opposite of You, God.

God:

There are several possibilities.

The picture you paint could be accurate.

Some are deliberately fraudulent for lack of wisdom.

Some are sincere and believe they know Truth but are off track a lot or a little.

Some have genuine powers but in limited areas.

Some may be on track regardless of how it seems to you.

It is certain that you do not necessarily know anyone's truth from the outside. When you happen to perceive correctly that someone's inside and outside don't match up, then perhaps their heart and mind go separate ways, but then again, they may not.

Concern yourself with your heart and mind conjoined in truth, and never mind evaluation of others. Tend to your own house.

Some have lost their way. Some are lost and are unaware. Some know exactly where they are and where they are going, but may appear lost.

Some are rich and appear poor. Some are poor and appear rich. Some are rich and appear rich. Some are poor and appear poor.

But the truth is that each has an inheritance in their possession. The truth is that each heart is pure and of Mine no matter how well that may be hidden.

That is all you need to know.

Never mind what your neighbor is doing. I will mind that. Mind what you are doing.

Gloria to Mother Divine:

Dear Mother Divine, the sweetest thing happened yesterday. My friend Jon called me and read totally from Heavenletters, read to me what he had underlined and starred, and he even read one selection out loud twice! Is that a deliberate and overt generous gift on his part or what? He made me laugh!

Mother Divine:

He was generous of spirit. You expressed a need. No matter how unwarranted, he graciously chose to fill it. From a solid place, he chose to fill it.

This is a good lesson for you. Give generously what someone wants. Say yes. Give. Never fear of spoiling.

Give what you want to give. Give everything away but your truth.

Give as your heart wants, but not as your heart doesn't want. Give and let go.

And that is how Jon plays golf.

Gloria:

Karen is someone who is totally generous. She has also found that some people are selfish and just take. I read somewhere once that people can be divided into one of two groups, givers or takers.

Mother Divine:

That is one way of looking at it. No matter. A giver must give, as God gives. It is His pleasure to give, and He is happy when one receives.

Some cannot give. Some can only seem to take, or take partly. But even in taking, they are receiving, and receiving is a kind of giving.

But you are speaking of selfishness, one who is a friend only so long as you are useful to them.

Remember that all are teachers. Selfish ones are also teaching you something, maybe how unselfish you are.

What may make someone selfish is their lack of gratitude. Their forlorn heart does not know how to be grateful.

Gratitude leaves no room for selfishness.

Gratitude is holy.

Gratitude to God keeps you from being selfish.

Gratitude is a little tug on the golden cord that connects you and God and connects you to His other children.

Practice gratitude. It is like getting a tan. The more you sit in the sun, the more tanned you become.

The more you give gratitude, the more gratitude you have to give.

Gratitude is the juice of the orange.

Ingratitude is the pulp and peel.

Gratitude is an offering.

Consider that you merit every gift given to you or you would not receive it. At the same time, consider that you are fortunate and be glad to be fortunate, and that is gratitude.

Gratitude keeps you generous.

When you know what you have been given, you can afford to be generous.

Karen can be so generous because she knows what she has been given, and so she passes it on freely.

She is like a stream that flows through hill and dale and nourishes all in its path.

A stream flows; it cannot hoard.

A flower does not withhold its bloom.

Give? There is nothing else to do. You cannot store all you have been given. You must free it.

Let your heart flow like a stream and overflow the riverbanks.

Don't sort and weigh too much where your gifts go. They are not yours anyway.

God gives wantonly. He gives mercilessly. He doesn't wait. He knows that, soon or late, the receiver will become a giver. The taker will become a fountain of giving. A fountain waters itself, and so the giver gains.

Be glad to give. That is gratitude also.
