The Life You Lead

God said:

Your life is all about you. Of course, I have said that life is not all about you. Yes, life is about much more than you. Nevertheless, you are the one who lives your life. It is for you to make hay while the sun shines. Your life certainly seems to happen to you. You are the one who leads your life. Listen to that expression – you lead your life. There is the portion in which you direct your life to be one way or another.

For example, you may have a day or part of a day, where you are laughing, laughing, laughing. Presumably you’re laughing because funny things are happening, or you are reading about funny things, or you happen to remember something that makes you laugh. You decide there has to be a bona-fide reason for your laughing, and so you find it.

Of course, something outside may trigger your laughing. All the while, the laughter comes out from inside you. The laughter bubbles up from within you. Then something on the outside gives your laughter a poke, and so you find an excuse for laughing. Do you agree, that whatever alibi you have for the cause of your laughter, the stimulation comes deeply from within you? Something or another stimulates your laughter. You have been waiting for it.

It is the same with the stimulation of tears and sadness. All the sadness resides within you. First the sadness. Then you attribute it to something. Perhaps you miss someone who cannot appear in this lifetime again, or you long for your youth, or because you took a certain turn in life at a certain juncture, now you are wondering what if you had taken a different turn and not the one you did - what if you had geed instead of hawed, what would your life look like now?

In any case, you see the fleetingness of this life that is like fine powder in your hands, and then it is gone. You can’t keep yourself as you once were. No matter who you are, no matter what you try, the sweetness or the heartache of the past won’t come back in front of you.

In some sense, the sweetness and the heartache are the same. They touch you. Memories of them touch you. You could stand on your head, and, still, the past will never come back, although it does come back in your mind often enough to no avail.

You know, some horses have blinders put on so they can neither look left nor right, cannot be sidetracked, can only go straight ahead. My children have no such blinders. Inversely, My children have thoughts from the past that serve as blinders to what is in front of them.

It’s like when you wait for a bus, and the bus comes, it is you who gets on the bus. Even when you catch the bus at the last moment, it is you who runs for the bus. You wait for the bus called Laughter today, and another day you wait for the bus called Sadness. Every time, the bus you wait for comes. This is how it is, do you agree?

Of course, some busses take you by surprise. You weren’t waiting for them, yet they arrive. These busses might carry names like Death, Accident, Trouble, and you get on the bus full-force. You could anticipate busses called Joy, Mirth, Beauty whatever is your pleasure. There are lots of busses in the world. Get on the busses you want with both feet, and let the ones you don’t want stop if they choose, yet you don’t have to enter and sit down. You can watch busses pass you by, or you get in without sitting down in them, or, if you get on, you can get off.

Who says you have to stay on busses where it’s not your heart’s desire to stay?
