How are you today? Have you changed your mind about anything? Have you opened your heart further recently? Have you gone to work by a different route? What happiness did you give to someone today that also brought you happiness? What are you going to do right now, and how do you feel about it?
If you are going to do something right now, or are in the middle of something right now that does not make your heart bounce for joy, what new approach can you take that will make your heart bounce?
When a meal is presented to you that you find bland, even boring, you reach for the salt shaker and add some spice to the meal. What spice can you add to the task at hand to make it more palatable for you? My real question is, beloveds: What can you do to spruce up your thinking? What can you think of that will lead to your appreciating rather than depreciating the task before you, or the day before you, or your life before you? I know there is something you can change that will add light and joy for you. I know there is.
Right off the bat, beloveds, why not start thinking that you are the luckiest person in the world? What have you been thinking about yourself? No, don't tell Me. Let's skip over that.
What if you were the luckiest person in the world, how would you look toward your day and the task at hand? This question applies in many areas of your life.
What if you are having difficulty with your eyes, for instance? What if you were to change how you think about your eyes? What if, instead of fear and dread and all the emanations of it you might tell yourself, you chose to look at your eyes in a new light?
What if every time you look into the mirror, you would say: "Oh, my brown eyes (or blue), how beautiful you are! You have done so much seeing for me, it's about time I looked at you. Look at how you shine! Look at all you do for me. I am so proud of you and all your good service. Have I ever told you this? Have I ever told you what you mean to me? I think I have only rubbed you when you were itchy. It seems to me I have only given you attention when I was irritated with you. Now I turn over a new leaf, and I'm going to let you know how beautiful you are, and how much you mean to me. I am grateful for everything you have let me see, and I am grateful for all your service."
You have the idea. This is not the first time I have suggested that you love.
You can apply this to even the task at hand. Maybe you have to clean out the refrigerator, and you don't like doing it. What if you appreciated the refrigerator, and all it does for you day in and day out. Would this be a change? Why not even give some happiness to inanimate objects that serve you as best they know how.
And if there are people in your life that you find difficult, when you find even one true thing about them that you appreciate, how might your feelings change? What if, instead of grumbling to yourself about them, you shed a little light of your understanding upon them? What if you could make room for even the possibility of liking them, what change in the whole world might this make?
