(A play in ten acts, 8 of which are unpublished, and 1 of which is missing.)
The two characters are mark-note (MN) and the spirit of Melchezidek (SM) an O.T. figure in the Bible who appears here, who also is partly the embodiment of Homer Simpson.
Note: No animals were harmed during the production of this play. By this I mean, no animals were harmed by me. The actions of others outside of my sphere of influence during this time period I cannot account for, you will have to ask them. It is theoretically possible that during the process of typing I tapped on a gnat or 2, these things happen, I am only human.
SM: I am sent to you to give reason and instruction. Please hear and believe.
MN: Yes, lord I hear and pray for understanding.
SM It has come to the attention of the heavenly ones that you use excessive notes in your poems.
MN Yes?
SM We see all. One note is okay, 2 is so-so, but 3 is...
MN Yes, please do tell.
SM Three is...unforgivable.
MN It is the unforgivable sin?
SM I am afraid so, except that I am not afraid.
MN Is there no way around this decree? I mean, I have studied theological things for quite some time now, and I never would have imagined that excessive note-giving is the unforgivable sin. Have I been in error all this time?
SM Your sins are not noted in heaven, however your notes are. There is one way out though.
MN Yes?
SM It is by that process known as "repentence".
MN What is this?
SM It is simply a mind-choice. It has nothing to do with whether you actually succeed in "repenting". In other words, if you repent, it does not matter how many more notes you give. We will not bother with that. You will only annoy Gloria and others if you do this, once you repent, but you will not be taken note of by those who take notes in heaven concerning those who give notes on earth. Is this clear?
MN I believe so. Is it possible to give notes just to annoy others? It can be a little fun.
SM I note what you are saying. Do not try to have too much fun, you understand?
MN I hear and I obey, I mean usually I do.
SM Good.
MN I do not understand one thing though. If a sin is unforgivable, how can it be forgiven only by repenting of it?
SM Yeshua-Jesus used language amongst those on earth who listened to his words for specific purposes. One should understand that as poems are not meant to be taken literally always, his sayings are in the same league. Sometimes his words seemed harsh, but only to those who did not understand the intent of the words. See, Jesus didn't leave a lot of notes explaining his words, so sometimes we misunderstand.
You see, Jesus did not use these words to bring a barrier between others and himself and God. He did not mean for people to take fear or guilt because of his words. He did, however, sometimes wish to startle people. Sometimes you have to startle people to get them to think differently. If people feel that they are utterly wonderful in themselves because they have obeyed many rules, some of which they have made up, they need to be startled into understanding things in a higher way. People who obey rules but have forgotten love is the rule that rules all sometimes need a little wake-up. These words are meant to be a splash of water in the face, not a drowning. So, you understand, you and Humoriel-Notel, when your actions are appropriate, and when they are not? Yes, I think you do. I have faith in you, as I should have from the beginning.
MN Yes, thank you. Explain a little more about this repentence.
SM You only make a choice to alter your path. Then you trust your path to God. There is no such thing as failure once you have made the choice. There is only learning.
MN I see.
SM And once this path has been entered upon, it is not necessary to ask God to forgive you every time you feel you deviate from the path you have chosen in God. If this asking helps you, then let it be a help. But only have an attitude that as you have asked God for forgiveness once, and wish to remain on the path, then that initial asking for forgiveness is never forgotten in heaven. But again, if it helps you to ask for forgiveness, then do so. But usually people ask for forgiveness to clear their own hearts. Things have already been cleared between God and them, and the asking is just a remembering for the asker, the seeker.
MN Thank you for coming to see me. I am grateful. Will you come again?
SM I'll make a note of it.
Love, Markwiel-Notel. Hey Mike, cheer up!
