Brad to God:
Hello. My name is Brad. I am twenty-three years old. I have been born with schizo-affective disorder. When I was fourteen I discovered that I was different. I found out that my brain wasn't normal. I sought out professional help because my life was falling apart. I was first taken to a psychiatrist that wasn't able to help me. In fact, I thought I was getting better and then I got much worse. The doctor performed malpractice on me which sabotaged my nervous system and brain.
Ultimately, I was sent to another doctor which gave me some medicine that really improved my condition. Five years passed and I decided it was okay to stop taking my medicine. On the medicine, I was a very mellow person. When I stopped taking zyprexa I got unaware and confused. My health was profoundly affected. I lost forty-five pounds. My system was literally eating itself for survival. Since the neural damage, my brain was self-destructing or falling apart.
Finally, six months later I returned to taking zyprexa for schizo-affective disorder. My doctors told me to never get off my medicine again.
Now I am doing good again, but I have a feeling my illness is completely gone forever.
So now, dear God, my question to You is shall I go off my medicine anytime soon? If so, how would I do it?
God to Brad:
You were born My child.
That is who you remain.
I do not know disorders or words of them.
Come back to Me, Brad.
Your question is not whether to stay on or go off of a medication.
Your question is to come to Me now or later.
Change your vocabulary. Change your thoughts.
It is not wonderful to be on a drug. Nor is it wonderful to be off it. That is not your goal in life. That is only a preoccupation.
You have a wound. The question is not whether to put a band-aid on or take it off.
The same as with Annette. Her question wasn't really about wearing a jaw splint or not. Read My answer to her again and know I am also talking to you.
Look beneath a question. Find the underlying question.
Do not try to prove anything, My dear son Brad.
Do not try to prove you are well, for that says you are not. Do not try to prove you are well — be well.
Get your attention off the name given you. Some people are given the name Stupid, or Foolish, or Bubblehead. You were given a name Schizoid something. All of My children must go beyond the names the world gives them.
All of My children are misunderstood. All of My children are underestimated. All of My children do not value themselves as I value them.
You are no different from anyone, Brad. All are the same.
Some understand more, that's all.
You need to understand more.
You will understand more by spending less time thinking about yourself. Start thinking about Me. Put your attention on Me. Forget Brad for a while. Too much attention on yourself takes you away from Me.
Start thinking of what you can do to make someone else feel better. By feel better, I mean, uplift. Uplift in truth.
How do you spend your days, Brad?
Spend them in service. Serve life for Me.
You are not here to figure things out.
You are here to bless Me.
Bless me by blessing another.
Do a kindness every day.
Move your body.
Move your mind.
Stop thinking about going off your medicine.
Think about making life better.
Make it better for someone.
Your question is not what to go off but what to put your attention on.
You have bigger things to do than fret over a medication.
You are My son on a medication or not.
Do not test your medication.
You are not more with it or without it.
Do this: Love your medication. Thank it for helping you, for you do see that it has. Ask it what it does for you. Tell it you will look to do those things for yourself. Then don't think about your medication any more until the next time you take it. Think about it as you take it, and then forget about it. It is not the ruler of your life. Take the attention you put on thinking about your medication on Me.
Do you see now how your question was not about taking or not taking a pill? Do you see the grander aspects of your question? Your question was really:
"Dear God, how do I get beyond this supposed illness? How do I come ever closer to You. You are important, not this or that. You. I know You are the Healer. You are My help and My salvation.
"Will You salvage me, dear Father? Will You take me beyond my present life, as I see it, to something grander?
"I understand now that my life is not about changing or stopping a medication. My life is about changing my thoughts and bringing them to You.
"Dear God, my old way of thinking is no longer useful. I do not need it. I have outgrown it. I can think new ways. I can think Your way.
"The first thing I am going to do is think less, talk less, and do more. And as I do more, I will do it with You in mind. From now on, I do for You.
"I will do a lot of physical activity for You, my dear God. I will attend to You with all my heart. I will attend to You and let go of my small concerns.
"You are the Creator, and You created me. I know you created me simple. You did not create me complex. So I give you my complexity, and I accept Your simplicity.
"Thank You, dear Father, for loving me and bringing me closer to You and a loving life. Today You are with me, and you strengthen me. You give me Your strength and Your Will.
"Thank You, dear Father, for blessing me with this moment now. And now I live my life in gratitude to You. Now I know You guide my life, and so I lead a different life. Your faith in Me, dear Father, is well-placed. I know I am Your son, and You are My Father, and I will repay You for Your blessings by doing good for others. Amen."
The next time you write Me a question, begin your question with Dear God, and end it with Your son, for in doing that, you establish Our connection in your mind.
And write Me again, and tell Me how you feel and how your life is on a larger scale.
