Nancy O. to God:
Dear God, there was a preliminary court hearing yesterday that went very badly for me. The court said the prenuptial agreement MAY be invalid, which means, in any case, I now have to turn over my financial records to this man and his attorney, and they will put together their claims.
The next hearing will be in less than a week. It does not feel that things are going well for me right now.
God, how do I prepare myself for others' deciding things that deeply affect my life, like the outcome of this court case? How do I work at turning it all over to You, and what parts do I need to handle?
I know it is all about attitude.
I am truly asking for the highest good of all. It may be hard to live with, though. I have been too angry for too long. I know I need to be rid of this. Thank You and love.
God to Nancy:
My dear child, you are in My hands. Turn yourself over to Me. It is that simple.
It is too hard for you to serenely turn your assets over to this man. They are assets you worked hard for, and from everything you know and see, this man has no entitlement to them.
It feels to you like a thief has crept into your home to take what is yours and that the law may uphold his thievery and not your rights. It does feel like turning your life over to strangers to decide.
I do not ask you to pretend to give with joy what you does not give you joy to give. You are not giving here; not in your heart and not in actuality.
If the court does go against your desires, some of your worldly goods will be taken from you. That is not your giving. That is someone else's taking. And that is against your will.
But you can give yourself freely to Me, dear Nancy. Can you do that? Can you say:
"Dear God, I am Yours. You and I are what matter. Everything else is small next to Us. No one can take You away from me, or me away from You.
"I cannot pretend that I am bigger than I am, but I know there is nothing grander than You.
"I know that this discomfort I feel now is a smidgeon next to Your love for me and my love for You.
"I know in truth that the worldly court cannot take anything away from me that matters because I have You. I know that You are not taking anything away from me, because You only give.
"I know this is a turning point in my life. Whatever way the court decision goes, I will be free. I will be a clean slate who can turn fully to You. If the court stripped me of everything, I still can turn fully to You and know that I have been granted a great gift to be free of the past.
"Dear God, my will here is to be free of the past, and I know You will help me with that.
"Whatever happens in court, I will feel relief.
"I thank You for ending this matter. I thank You for the strength that You give me to let go. I let go of the need to control my life.
"The court does not have to vindicate me, because I have nothing to be vindicated from.
"If the court should do everything I want, my joy would be short-lived.
"In terms of my life, it really doesn't matter much what the court says or does. The court does not give me happiness or unhappiness. That power they do not have.
"My life is not my possessions. My life is not what I see as my rights. My life is not gain or loss. My life is a gift from You. Nothing that happens here changes Your love for me. You fill me with Your love.
"I have no enemies here, nor am I anyone's enemy. I hold no one, and no one holds me. Only You, dear Father.
"I bless the court to do its thing. I bless my attorney, and I bless my former husband and his attorney. I bless myself enough to see this episode in my life as an episode, and I disentangle myself from its outcome. It is truly not so important to me as I thought.
"I begin to realize that this can be a wonderful turning-point in my life. This is the time I get free. This is the time I free myself from the past and start anew."
Dear Nancy, you can free yourself right now from the horrors of this upcoming court hearing. There is nothing for you to control. It is for you to let go of control. Let your attorney do the work for you. Put your feet up, and watch a good movie.
This court hearing does not deeply affect your life. That is a misconception.
Your former husband cannot hurt you. He can hurt your ego, that's all. Know this, he cannot demean you. He cannot touch your life. He has no power over you, whatever he thinks. Let him smirk and feel victorious, if he does, because he will have won nothing, just as you will have lost nothing. Whatever happens, dear Nancy, you gain.
