Why Be Late in Knowing You Are Love?

God said:

When you are already sitting in a chair, it takes no effort to sit there.

Love is like sitting in a chair. Love takes no effort. What is effort may be an attempt at love, but love itself is not effortful, or it is not love. Love is easy. It is simply sitting in a particular chair.

Christ and the other known great ones did not gear themselves for love. They did not grit their teeth and say to themselves: "No matter what the populace does or say, I will gird my loins and love anyway." The great ones did not say: "I will make effort to see beyond leper's wounds. I will make effort not to see anything but the glow of love."

The great ones did not put on their best face. They simply were love, simple love, and they did not conjure it nor hide it. They let it be. They let love be.

For the great ones to tell themselves to remember to love — well, that would be like telling a ripe rose to bloom, or telling it to waft sweetness into the air, or inciting a red rose to be red and a white rose white. How could the great ones not love? They already loved. They were love manifest. They were a Manifesto of Love.

When you stand tall on a mountain, there is a certain wide vista you see. You see the whole vista because you are standing on the top of the mountain. It takes no special skill to see afar. All who rise to the top of the mountain will see all there is to see.

Halfway up the mountain, you would not see all there is to be seen. Yet you can be glad you are halfway up the mountain.

Of course, there is no mountain you have to climb in order to become magnificent love. There is no striving with love, but for the sake of metaphor, let Us say that you have to climb a mountain of love in order to reach to the top from where you see clearly that you are the mountain you climbed and that you were love all along.

From the mountain peak, you see all there is, and so you see love. Even when the air is misty, you see love. You see that the mist is also love and that there is nothing else to be seen but love. It would not occur to you to fraction love. You wouldn't alter one bit of it. You would simply be a flag of love. And from your peak, you would pull others up to stand beside you. Love would climb in order to fall in love, knowing full well that there was nothing to reach and nowhere to fall.

In familiar speech, We say you give love, but the truth about love is that you give nothing at all. Loving isn't like reaching into a pocket and handing out some coins or even large bills. Love isn't pulled in and out. It isn't dispensed nor dispensed with. Love can only be a reflection of what is. Why be late in knowing that you are Love?

Love isn't something you demonstrate. It isn't something you have to ask for. Love is like the glasses you hunted for that were already on your nose.

There was an ugly duckling who didn't yet know it was a swan. But it always was a swan. It never was anything but a swan. And you are a swan of love.
