Whatever the Tides Bring In

God said:

Birds sing each day. Trees grow to the sun. Breezes blow. Neither birds nor trees nor breezes let that which comes and goes change their course. Rain or shine, birds sing. Trees grow. The winds of change blow, and breezes do what they are best at regardless of who or what is in their path. Birds and trees and breezes do not get distracted like you do. They are more sure of themselves. They know who they are and what they are to do.

You, on the other hand, spend a lot of your life trying to figure life and yourself out. You wonder, you worry, you complain. You put fillers in your life, bookmarks, as it were, and you accumulate thoughts as if they had to be kept, and objects as if they supported you, and musings and regrets as if they were the staff of your life. You make a show of greater confidence than you have, or your reveal less confidence than is truly yours. Life is a game, but often not the game you make of it.

Life is an out-in-the-open game. It is not hide-go-seek. It is not to be hovered over. It is to be lived. It is not a portrayal. It is actual, imminent, and it is yours.

When you are unsure of what is going on in your life, or what you are supposed to do, must you limit life to something it has already been?

Life is not meant to be a repetition of the day before. You can carry out the same acts, go to work, drive the car, answer the phone, but, in fact, each day is new, and you are not to carry the so-called past over into the so-called present. Even when you are on the same train, there is something new to look at. Even when you are on the same train, following the same route, there is something new for you to look at, and if there were not, there is still another way for you to look at whatever you have seen before. You certainly have not seen it all before. And you don't know what is going to happen next.

Please get out of your robot suits. Wear something else. If you were cross yesterday, today you don't have to be. If you were serious yesterday, today you can be lighthearted.

There are many things you have no say over in life. There are many things that you cannot predict nor prevent nor stop nor contrive. Each moment is unknown to you, but you are known. You are a known quantity, insofar as you have let yourself be known to yourself.

Whatever the tides bring in, you are the determiner of how you regard the tides and what they bring to you. You are the determiner of how you meet life. You have a full range of options as to how to greet life and what occurs in it. Mark the options you want. Why would you live your life according to default responses, as if you have little choice or no choice at all?

Birds sing each day, and they sing with gusto. They are singing life. They are One with the universe. Are you less than the little bird that sings outside your window? I say you are more. You certainly have the choice to sing your life before the world. The bird sings whether you hear him or not. The bird sings because he sings. He sees no reason not to.

Have you not plucked reasons out of the air and kept your sacred song to yourself?
