The material world has its place, but it is not the making of you. The material world has its importance and yet it is not the power that you like to think it is. How dependable is the world, after all?

You spend your life at a movie, and all the colors and actions and ins and outs seem real to you while you are the movie. The movie screen becomes the whole wide world. What appears on the screen is a passing fancy, a made-up thing for you to gaze at for a little while. And then you leave. Everybody leaves.

Remind yourself that there is a God Overall.

I am your Author. Therefore, I am in truth your Authority. Give Me your allegiance. Let the rule of the world ease away. What need is there for rule when there is a benevolent God Who resides in you? Those in love do not make rules. They are too happy to make rules. They do not think of imposing their will upon another. They are too busy in love to make ordinances.
