Hello Friends,
On my spiritual path, Peace Pilgrim & A Course in Miracles have been very important, but the “book” that is helping to put it all together for me so that I get it is The Holy Spirit’s Interpretation of the New Testament.
In other words, it is what I am learning from my own inner Guide that is helping me the most. In the end, that is true for all of us.
My inner Guide told me, through the interpretation of Acts, that teachers and books are useful in helping to loosen thoughts within our mind, but we should not expect more of them than they can give.
A Course in Miracles says
This is the only thing that you need do for vision, happiness, release from pain and the complete escape from sin, all to be given you. Say only this, but mean it with no reservations, for here the power of salvation lies
I am responsible for what I see.
I choose the feelings I experience,
and I decide upon the goal I would achieve.
And everything that seems to happen to me
I ask for,
and receive as I have asked.
(T.21.II.2)
A Course in Miracles also says that my only responsibility is to accept the atonement for myself. That means, that my only responsibility is to accept the statement above “with no reservations.”
But what does that mean?
Here is how my inner Teacher taught it to me
I am the creative process that is God. I am not a body or a personality or an individual soul. I am the creative process that is God. I am an extension of God; I am the same as God. I did not make the thing I am, but I am what I am with you, and that can never change.
That is powerful. When that clicked for me, it changed everything.
What else has my Teacher taught me? My Teacher taught me that the middle way is the way. What does that mean? It means accept, look, accept, forgive, accept, rejoice.
1. Accept that I am as God created me. The truth is always true. I did not create myself. I am the creative process that is God.
2. Look at my mind, my experience and the world. Be honest about what I think about and focus on and feel.
3. Accept that my experiences and my perception are as they are because of the thoughts and feelings that are believed and focused on within my mind.
4. Forgive the thoughts and feelings and beliefs that I no longer want. Let them go. Just stop believing in them. They are only in my mind because I choose to accept them and hold onto them. Now, I choose differently.
5. Accept my true thoughts and feelings, which are the ones saved for me within the inner chamber of my heart. Hold onto them. Turn my focus to them. Believe them. Allow them into my conscious awareness and my experience of me as me.
6. Rejoice! Be grateful for the truth. Celebrate the truth. Share the truth. Extend the truth!
My experience is that the middle way is a moment-to-moment process until the mind has finally let go of all false beliefs once and for all.
The middle way is both forgiving the false and accepting, whole-heartedly, that which is true. It isn’t focusing on guilt as if guilt can save me, and it isn’t denying the darkness in the mind by hiding in bliss. It is the middle way. It is to letting go of guilt & fear, and accepting innocence & Love & Truth simultaneously.
Now that I understand this, I begin the practice of it. It is like learning a whole new language. but I am grateful that I understand who I am, what my purpose is within the world and why I am asked to practice forgiveness.
