There is a great deal children and adults are not taught in the school system, whatever system it may be, either public or private. It's a shame, however it is an unfortunate fact and serious commentary on our educational system in the US.

I agree with you that spelling and grammar are integrally and crucially important to communication, as the slightest error has the ability to change the meaning of what one might be trying to communicate. Spellcheck works on it's own as long as you point and click, it will offer the proper spelling and grammar for you to choose either to change it or ignore it.
 
I understand and respect your POV of your name. It is indeed a special moniker for you specifically given to you by your mother. I would not ever want to diminish it's importance or meaning to you whatsoever. As a Linguistics/English language/IPA educator (among other things) the rules of grammar and language are fairly universal.
Accents are always on the vowels as they are the building blocks and sounds of speech.
They may be placed on the first vowel/consonant combination or any other within the word. Even in foreign languages, the accents are applied to the vowels instead of consonants. Accents are at times used instead of the actual vowel in some languages.
Most names from our collective here in the US come from English derivations and in your case it has a French context: English form of Jehanne, an Old French feminine form of Johannes (see JOHN), further: “
JEANINE
Gender: Feminine
Usage: French, English
Pronounced: zha-NEEN (French), je-NEEN (English)   [key]

Abraham Maslow created the Hierarchy of Needs. There are many websites that provide excellent information : http://www.ship.edu/~cgboeree/maslow.html . The top most tier of the needs pyramid deals with Self-Actualization and Maslow theorized that it is virtually impossible for one to reach self-actualization in their (earth-lifetime). The reading material about Maslow and his theories are abundant.
Most college level students and some high school students are given the basics through introductory psychology. It is exciting reading and could also be considered excellent self-help information should one wish to understand their behavior patterns. Personally, I think Maslow was spot on.
 
I personally understand your early conditioning and can not only empathize but sympathize.
We are all born with ego. Some nurture it’s growth and some don’t. My comments to ‘stefan’ and in general were directed and referred to one’s existence in “self.” You are very correct in that you must first understand and accept “who you are,” most often referred to as living authentically, in order to rid oneself of ego and commit to life purpose in service. These are basic steps of enlightenment and spiritual grounding. God gives all of us these gifts in His time and in His season. It is not something that one can push for or create on their own. It is God’s choice and He develops it everyone, again, in His time and season.
 
The book was called “then” New Neighbors. My sister was around 12 or 13. The Golden Book series has changed over the years. You may or may not have a copy if you have an extensive collection. Most of the books like that back then were “collection and genre specific.” They are no longer in print. If you have a copy…HANG ON TO IT! It may very well be some good insurance one day. Thank you for the compliment to our mother. However, prodigies is just another word for gifted children and is somewhat specific in its definition. We were not prodigies by any means. We just liked to write and color. *big smile* The Indigos and Crystals just are…God planned it that way.
 
I love the fact that you “connected” to something very specific here:  “is there any other way to love other than deeply, completely, & totally open?!” Yes, in a committed and intimate relationship, that kind of total love is integral. My point is that pain and hurt is a choice. As we all know, there are many forms and definitions of love. I can love you as a “sister sent from God” and my love for you this way is very different than the love I have for my partner (un-married) or wife (married). I am currently not “attached” as I lost my fiancé back twenty years ago and have not found someone that I connect with that deeply yet. If it is to be, God will direct and bring us together. I do have family, extended family, and very close friends that I love with a deeper love, but I still am in control of my choices. Communication is key in resolving negatives. If one is hurting it is by choice and it is up to the persons involved in the issue or dispute to communicate openly and truthfully in order to discharge and diffuse the pain and hurt so that healing can take place. IMHO, one must understand their choice, recognize their responsibility in the issue, and forgive themselves first, only then can they approach and respond truthfully on all levels, emotionally, spiritually, physically, and intellectually to the issue or pain.
 
Living authentically in love and serving others by generating positive energy and sharing God is the foundation for enlightenment. He will guide and direct your path(s) and will sustain you in whatever you do as long as you are truthful and available in your life for Him.

Thanks for the info an angels...I do not think I was taught THAT in school.
I, too, give people nicknames as a term of endearment, & there is certainly
nothing wrong with that. The issue was simply that Jennine has no short
form.By the way, it is  French, really spelled J'ennine, accent on the "j".
It is the diminutive form of Jane or Jeanne.
I corrected my misspelling on the word "respecting". Thanks for pointing
that out to me. As I am no fond of constant spell-checking, I did not even
notice it.
I love that you culled the info about my interest in the arts from my
earlier response to a post of yours. Thanks for truly paying attention.
Just who exactly is Maslow? I have heard the name, but am not familiar with
his work...is this psych talk?
I had such low self esteem for so many years,mostly abuse induced & I am
only just now becoming secure in my person & who I am again. I have to get
an ego before I can give it up! ( A close expression that would fit here is
you cannot heal what you do not feel...)
Little Golden Books are my favorite! What book did you write? I have quite a
collection of those :) How old was your sister when she illustrated your
book? Your mother must be so proud producing all these prodigies!

Hello, krystofer. I just read your lengthy post about English-language usage; you said you are an English-language educator, and you commented on how one error in usage can change the meaning, and you continue on at length with illustrations, so I felt compelled to reply because I see that you used that wrong it's -- thrice -- on it's own, it's importance, it's growth. Nom de plume isn't hyphenated. And the word "incredible," which permeates our language thousands of time per day, actually "diss-es" (or negates) what we use it for. I could go on (topmost is one word; quotation marks use two apostophes, not one; college-level students needs hyphenation; cannot is one word, not two) but will stop. Proofreading is one of my gifts and I cannot help myself. (smiles)
We could blame it on SpellCheck.

this IS spiritual. Words are energies manifesting manifestations. I
immediatly understood what you are talking about even German is my nativ
language. What you describe with incredible is exactly the lack of
consciousnes usage of language. It can mean not-credible. And the brain
processes not-credible instead of credible. No matter in which context it was
used.

If I look into my dictonary I see the following translations:

incredible adj. unglaubhaft
incredible adj. unglaublich
incredible adj. wunderbar
incredible adj. nicht zu fassen

so I think what was ment in the first place was "wunderbar" which is
wonderful, marvelous, and some other words too like terrific.

Terrific is a good example as well. It contains terrified. What a difference!

Peoples brain tend to "pattern match". Meaning, if you read soemthing, often
only the first part of a word is read and the rest will be completed by the
brain automatically. So it is important to avoid negations in writings which
are upfront like in in-credible.

I could discuss this subject for hours and days cause I find it so
interesting how words affect the receiver of them. Sometimes changing only
one word in a sentence makes a lot of a difference! And this IS a spiritual
theme. Sometimes if I write something I am sitting there and read it all over
again, changing only some words. And the energy contained in the writing
changes a lot.

There is a saying "you are what you eat" but I believe a lot more in "you are
what you speak and write".
